Abstract

PALLARES-NEILA, Javier  and  UTRERA-CANALEJO, Isabel. Mental health and prison, a difficult fit. Rev. Asoc. Esp. Neuropsiq. [online]. 2022, vol.42, n.141, pp.207-213.  Epub July 18, 2022. ISSN 2340-2733.  https://dx.doi.org/10.4321/s0211-57352022000100013.

Thirteen years ago preliminary data from the PreCa study, which showed the high prevalence of people with mental illness in Spanish prisons, were published. From the General Directorate of Penitentiary Institutions, with the collaboration of the Entities of the Third Sector of Social Action, specific programs were launched to care for this group. However, as, according to data provided by the prison administration, the problem seems to persist, several suggestions that could guide new actions are offered by the authors.
