The group device is a therapeutic and research instrument for the group operative conception. This work aims to be an open and reflective account from our experience in the care and institutional context of the Mental Health Day Hospital in which we work. We start from a conception of “subject” produced in a link network, being the first group the family group. Therefore, subjectivity, object of study, is determined historically, familiarly, and socially. Group psychotherapy, therapeutic coexistence, interdisciplinary teamwork and subjectivity are the starting points for the development of a group and institutional clinical practice in mental health assistance devices in the public sphere.

Keywords : operative group psychotherapy; bonding; subjectivity; team-group; setting; countertransference.
