Abstract

MARTENS, Willem H.J.. A schizoid man. Eur. J. Psychiat. [online]. 2011, vol.25, n.2, pp.111-113. ISSN 0213-6163.  https://dx.doi.org/10.4321/S0213-61632011000200006.

Background and Objectives: More insight is needed into the etiology of schizoid personality disorder in order to construct more adequate diagnostic tools and therapeutic programs. Methods: Presentation and analysis of a case report. Results: A lack of emotional attachments to others and no rewards in social interactions was linked to a lack of motivation to learn how to recognize and respond to the feelings of others. Conclusions: Lasting depression during adolescence might trigger schizoid pathology.

Keywords : Schizoid personality disorder; Case report; Social indifference.
