Abstract

SOLESIO PILARTE, F.; LAREDO ORTIZ, C.  and  LORDA BARRAGUER, E.. An alternative way to secure drains. Cir. plást. iberolatinoam. [online]. 2009, vol.35, n.3, pp.249-254. ISSN 1989-2055.

Using drains in Plastic Surgery and other specialties is a very common practice. Sometimes the procedure fails when drains slide. Several securing methods have been reported in literature by authors with different grades of acceptance. The most commonly used one is the "roman sandal tying up", which results useless if not done correctly. For this reason we decided to analyze where and why such a method fails and propose an alternative, easy and trustable method to secure surgical drains: the clove hitch knot.

Keywords : Surgical drains.
