Abstract
AVENDANO-VALENZUELA, G.. Contouring of gluteal region: Current concepts and proposal for classification. Cir. plást. iberolatinoam. [online]. 2010, vol.36, n.3, pp.239-245. ISSN 1989-2055.
An improvement in the contouring of gluteal and paragluteal regions has been frequently required by the patients. Some authors have made multiple contributions like cruroplasty, gluteal lift, gluteal implants, flancoplasty, liposuction and lipoinjection, because the improvement of the gluteal contouring requires a combination of procedures. We are suggesting a classification to make easier the choice of the treatment to carry out in the gluteal region. This classification is mainly based in the muscle-skeletal anatomy of the gluteal region, the hip, and the zones of deformity or lipodystrophy. A period of 7 years. All were subject to an anatomical study of the hip and photo study. We studied the muscle-skeletal structures and the zones with lipodystrophy or deformity. The zones of lipodystrophy or deformity were classified by their frequency as Zone I, II, III, IV and V. Deformities appeared with the following frequency: Type I: 5 %. Type II: 30 %. Type III: 40 %. Type IV: 20%. Type V: 5%. The purpose of this new classification of hip deformities and its treatment is to allow us to update the concepts and to evolve in the aesthetic treatment of the hip with a global concept. This classification also allows more relevant aesthetic results. The classification offers a guide for the gluteal preoperating studies and for avoiding sequels, and can be applied to latin and anglo-saxon women.
