Tattoo elimination with optimum cosmetic results is a concern that has always existed. The introduction of laser treatments has represented an important step forward to achieve good results with a minimum of side effects. This study presents the different types of tattoos with their pigment characteristics, origin, and treatment methods, including the use of laser technology and more specifically those lasers with Q-Switch emission, their advantages and limitations. The evolution and future applications of laser tattoo removal are also outlined in this study.
