Abstract

GUISANTES, E.; RODRIGUEZ-MARQUEZ, G.  and  GARRIGOS, X.. Postraumatic massive breast implant rupture with abdominal silicone migration. Cir. plást. iberolatinoam. [online]. 2014, vol.40, n.1, pp.39-42. ISSN 1989-2055.  https://dx.doi.org/10.4321/S0376-78922014000100006.

We report the case of a 39-year-old patient who underwent aesthetic bilateral augmentation mammoplasty 13 years before using cohesive gel implants placed in the subglandular plane throughout an inframammary incision. She came to consultation after being precipitated from a 3 meters height bridge, presenting pain and distortion in her left breast and swelling and tenderness in her left abdomen. Exploration showed extracapsular breast implant rupture and silicone spread into the subcutaneous space of her abdomen. Both breast implants and leaked silicone were removed as well as implants capsules and a neo-capsule formed in the abdomen, throughout a careful dissection from the previous inframammary incision.

Keywords : Massive implant rupture; Breast implant rupture; Silicone migration; Silicone spread; Abdominal siliconoma.
