Cir. plást. iberolatinoam. [online]. 2014, vol.40, n.1, pp.63-72. ISSN 1989-2055.  https://dx.doi.org/10.4321/S0376-78922014000100009.

We report our clinical experience using the vertical trapezius myocutaneous flap in head and neck reconstruction presenting 10 patients with complex defects in these anatomical areas treated between June 2009 and October 2013, with special emphasis on surgical technique, results, complications and postoperative evolution. The vertical trapezius myocutaneous flap is versatile, has reliable anatomical features and it can be safely performed for reconstruction of complex defects in the head and neck area as first choice or as an alternative when other procedures have failed and in patients which is not possible to perform major surgery.

Keywords : Head and neck reconstruction; Trapezius flap; Myocutaneous flaps; Regional flaps.
