Nose plastic surgery has two major targets: pleasing aesthetic appearance and adequate airflow function. It is notice in the literature that the incidence of airway obstruction after a rhinoplasty may reach up to 10%. One of the most common causes of revision rhinoplasty in the plastic surgery outpatient setting is airflow obstruction caused by iatrogenic weakness of the cartilaginous support of the nose by excess of cartilage removal. This leads to valve collapse of the nose, which causes a deformity appearance of the nose and airway obstruction. Many surgical techniques have been described for surgical treatment of this deformity, such as different graft application. One of the techniques described is the batten graft technique, using a cartilage graft taken from the auricular concha bowl to be applied in the area of collapse in the nasal frame. We present our experience in 19 cases with nasal alar valve collapse using this technique. In our hands, this procedure shows an optimal functional and aesthetic result because it improves internal support alar cartilage and there are no changes at the donor site.
