Abstract

GAVIRIA-CASTELLANOS, Jorge Luis  and  FIGUEROA-RESTREPO, Luis Gabriel. Use of amniotic membrane in the treatment of toxic epidermal necrolysis. Case report. Cir. plást. iberolatinoam. [online]. 2022, vol.48, n.2, pp.199-206.  Epub Sep 19, 2022. ISSN 1989-2055.  https://dx.doi.org/10.4321/s0376-78922022000200011.

Toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) is a disease charac- terized by a hypersensitivity reaction mediated by immunocomplexes that generates the separation and / or detachment of the dermoepidermal junction with a commitment of more than 30% of the body surface. It is considered multifactorial, being triggered in a greater proportion by drugs, and presents a mortality of up to 30. Currently, there is no standard management, and due to its complexity, treatment in a burn unit is recommended.

To highlight one posible way of treatment, we present the case of a patient with TEN treated with an amniotic membrane with rapid reepithelialization and a good result.

Keywords : Toxic epidermal necrolysis; Amniotic membrane; Biological dressings.
