Abstract

PURPOSE: Primary mediastinal B-cell lymphoma (PMBL) es recognized as a separate entity by the REAL classification. PMLB is an aggressive tumor of young adults with a significant curability rate. The optimal management of this disorder is not well defined. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy are generally accepted as the best treatments for the management of PMBL. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A 14 year old boy with PMBL treated by surgery and new chemotherapy drugs. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS: The patient was cured employing a combination of surgery and new chemotherapy resources. The chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery employed for the management of PMBL are reviewed, indicating the role of surgery in resistant cases and recurrent disease.
