Abstract

PURPOSE: Paraneoplastic syndromes are clinical syndromes caused by tumors occurring in places distant from the tumor itself. Its incidence is underestimated. We present a case of paraneoplastic syndrome as an example, indicating the characteristics these syndromes must follow to be considered as such MATERIAL AND METHODS: A 72 year old woman with a skin disorder diagnosed as pyoderma gangraenosum before the diagnosis of a colo-rectal cancer were made. CONCLUSION: Colo-rectal tumors are the digestive neoplasms more frequently associated to pyoderma. The relation between pyoderma as a paraneoplastic syndrome of colo-rectal cancer is well established.
