Abstract

VILLAPLANA GARCIA, María. Análisis de la influencia de los factores relacionados con los indicadores de la Incapacidad Temporal y la reincorporación al trabajo. Med. segur. trab. [online]. 2014, vol.60, suppl.1, pp.65-73. ISSN 1989-7790.

This essay aims to describe the work disability as an indicator of Organizational Health, from a psychosocial point of view. Summarizes the results of a study that analyze the relationship and relevance of the effect of several factors on the frequency, rate and evolution of the temporary sickness absence. To this end, we study all the processes related to temporary sickness absence of workers covered by the general regime of the Social Security System in Spain during a period of six years, which were registered in a Mutual for Workplace Accidents and Work related Illnesses belonging to the National Health System. We performed a retrospective analysis of total processes, analyzed its association (indicating p values) with several characteristics such as demographics, labor, organizational and environment; described the ratio for each of the features, and calculated the Effect Size (d) to estimate the importance of the relationships found, using the Pearson Correlation Coefficient (rxy), Eta Squared (η²) and Cramer's V (V). The results show the effect of some of the variables analyzed in the indicators and behavior of temporary work disability. Furthermore, the findings are of importance for interventions aiming at reducing sickness absence. Intervention may be more effective if it addresses psychosocial issues, that which highlights the need to improve the systems for recording low processes and incorporate this type of information which is not yet available.
