Giant cell arteritis (GCA) is the most common vasculitis in our country. Its clinical manifestations are widely well-known. However, atypical forms of this disease are less studied and potentially dangerous. Lingual necrosis is a rare ischemic complication of GCA that can simulate other disorders. The aim of this article is to present a new case of lingual necrosis as debut of GCA and review the described literature about it.
