Abstract
GONZALEZ TRIJUEQUE, David and DELGADO MARINA, Sabino. Mobbing and personality disorders: a pilot study with the MCMI-II. Clínica y Salud [online]. 2008, vol.19, n.2, pp.191-204. ISSN 2174-0550.
This paper describes the most frequent personality disorders related to mobbing in the workplace. A sample of 50 victims was assessed with the MCMI-II whereas another sample of 50 individuals represented the general population -control group. Both groups were balanced in terms of demographic features including age, gender and socioeconomic status. The results showed that 36% of the clinical sample showed at least one personality disorder compared with 14% of the normative sample. The obsessive-compulsive disorder was the most prevalent (18%) followed by dependent (8%), avoidant (4%) and histrionic (4%) disorders. Furthermore, the victims with personality disorders were alcohol abusers and presented higher anxiety levels than the harassed workers without any personality disorder. Finally, implications of this study for clinical practice and future research in the field are discussed.
