Abstract

AZNAR BOLANO, Margarita. Intervention with Parents in Child Therapy. Clínica y Salud [online]. 2009, vol.20, n.3, pp.291-300. ISSN 2174-0550.

The role of parents in child therapy has been controversial within dynamic therapies, ranging from approaches that rule it out to approaches that place the family in the center of child psychotherapy. In addition to that, new paradigms such as inter-subjectivity and the existence of various motivational systems influence the rewording of both goals and techniques in the intervention with parents. This paper suggests an intervention framework with parents that includes contributions by psychoanalysis, systems theory, the view of family as a group, along with other paradigms. Following an analysis of parenting abilities, values of the work with parents are examined together with the technical difficulties showing up.

Keywords : psychotherapy; child; parents; parenting abilities.
