Abstract

VALERO RECIO, J.M.; ALVAREZ URDA, A.; GIL SANCHEZ, L.  and  MORERA MONTES, J.. Kikuchi’s disease: A diagnostic possibility of cervical lymphadenopathy. Medifam [online]. 2001, vol.11, n.5, pp.95-99. ISSN 1131-5768.

Kikuchi’s disease (histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis) is an entity which is manifested by cervical lymphadenopathy and has a benign course. Although it is rare outside Asia, it can also be seen in the western world, therefore it must be discarded when faced with a patient presenting cervical adenopathy. It’s associated mainly with viral infections, including HIV, and autoimmune disease. We present the case of a young man diagnosed of this disease in our Primary Health Care center.

Keywords : Lymphadenitis; Histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis; Primary Health Care.
