Abstract

VARELA CERDEIRA, M.; VARELA CASTRO, C. S.  and  FERRER MARIN-BLAZQUEZ, M.. Osteomalacia associated to antiepileptic treatment: A case report. Medifam [online]. 2002, vol.12, n.9, pp.93-96. ISSN 1131-5768.

We are going to present a case of osteomalacia induced by drugs in a patient with severe cerebral paralysis, confined at home and antiepileptic treatment, that is brought to consult because of presenting wailing with the movements. We have revised the diagnostic secuence of the osteomalacia, resalting the importance of the anamnesis, the laboratory analisys and the radilogycal explorations that we can acced from Primary Health Care to take the dignosis and proceed to the treatment. Finally we stand out the preventive measures in patient with long term treatment of antiepileptics.
