Abstract

CAMPILLOS PAEZ, Mª. T.; PARDO MORENO, G.  and  CAMPILLOS PAEZ, Mª. A.. Ogilvie's syndrome: a case report . Medifam [online]. 2002, vol.12, n.9, pp.107-110. ISSN 1131-5768.

We present a case of acute idiopathic dilatation of the colon (Ogilvie´s syndrome) in an adult man with cerebral paralysis from the childhood. It is an infrequent pathology that appears related to multiple pathologies (medical and surgical conditions). The pathophysiology of the syndrome is still unknown. Treatment of choice should be medical measures and fast decompression of the colon to avoid perforation of the ceacum that is the most serious complication and frequent.

Keywords : Pseudo-obstruction; Colon; Dilatation; Neostigmine.
