Abstract
RODRIGUES BARBOSA DE SOUSA, Jairo Edielson; FREITAS DA SILVA, Grazielle Roberta; BARROS ARAUJO LUZ, Maria Helena and LIMA PEREIRA, Marcio Leonardo. Theoretical conceptions of Neuman associated with prevention of pressure ulcers: an experience report. Index Enferm [online]. 2015, vol.24, n.4, pp.222-226. This case report aims to demonstrate the application of Neuman's Systems Model associated to prevention of pressure ulcers (PU), using Braden scale as an effective clinical standard in reducing the incidence of PU in Intensive Care Units (ICU). We present a case of a 94-year-old female, admitted with acute respiratory failure with associated diagnosis of pneumonia and decompensated diabetes in the ICU of a hospital in Teresina - Piaui, Brazil. During her ICU stay of 64 days, although she had several risk factors, she did not present PU, demonstrating how the preventive measures used were effective.
