Abstract

Objective:

Considering that violence against women is one of the most impactful events in physical and mental health, representing a significant problem for public health, the aim of this theoretical study is to discuss how care for women who are victims of violence can be understood from Myra Estrin Levine's Theory.

Method:

It is a essay about the phenomenon of violence against women from Myra Estrin Levine's Holistic Theory.

Main results:

Myra Estrin Levine's Theory is an important assumption for the care of women victims of violence in the field of nursing care, since it seeks to conserve energy, structural, personal and social integrity of the woman who passed through this process, from the perspective of comprehensive care.

Main conclusion:

Levine's theory can contribute to the recognition of violence against women and produce more effective practices in care and assistance in health services.
