Abstract

Binge drinking in college students between the ages of 18 and 25 results in unintentional deaths in car accidents, sexual assaults, and academic problems such as missed classes, tardiest in class, poor performance on tests or assignments, and low grades. Developing nursing models to explain this behaviour increases the field of knowledge of the discipline. The objective is to describe the construction of the middle range theory Systems Model of Binge Drinking in College Students, this process was carried out by the theoretical substruction of some concepts of the Neuman Systems Model. This model is very useful to have an approach with the population of young university students and can be used to guide actions to prevent excessive alcohol consumption
