Abstract

Objective:

To compare the level of vocation in students in the second, fourth, sixth and eighth semesters of a nursing degree from a private university in Mexico.

Methodology:

Comparative, cross-sectional design; The sample was 127 undergraduate nursing students from different semesters. The instrument "Vocation of service for human care" was used, a data card; informed consent was used. Data processing was performed in SPSS, descriptive and inferential statistics were used.

Results:

86% were women, the average age was 21.1 ± 4, the average happiness was 8.7 ± 1.4, 60.6% had a good vocation; There are differences between the level of vocation of the eighth semester with respect to the others (p <.05), there is a relationship between happiness and vocation (r = .385; p <.01).

Conclusion:

The level of vocation in Nursing students is good, there are significant differences between the level of vocation as the semesters increase. Happiness and vocation are related and potentially condition professional performance.
