Abstract

Objective:

to know the perspective of older people and their way of living the duel in the rural community.

Methodology:

it is an ethnographic study, in rural areas, whose data was collected through interviews and participant observation. To structure the data, we used the functional patterns of Gordon.

Results:

The attitudes experienced in rural areas are characterized mainly by the external manifestations of mourning, the support received by the entire neighborhood to the mourners and the existence of cultural customs.

Conclusions:

The duel in the rural area is imbued with cultural, family, and Community Customs. These practices have suffered a strong transformation with the passage of the years.
