Abstract

NAVARRO ESCAYOLA, E.; ROS OLIVARES, T.  and  PEREZ PUJOL, E.. An unusual suicide by gunshot: Case report. Cuad. med. forense [online]. 2003, n.34, pp.35-41. ISSN 1988-611X.

Many times it is very difficult to establish the legal medical etiology in cases of violent death. As an example we have a case of death of suicidal origin in which the victim had two shots caused by firearm in the right temple and in the nape. The characteristics of the cartridge (very old and with gunpowder in a bad state of conservation) caused the deformation of the projectile when it struck the bone, not perforating it, and which, after deviation affected just some muscles. This first shot not having been mortal, the subject shot for a second time in the nape, which produced his death by breaking the vascular-nervous pack of the neck.

Keywords : atypical suicide by gunshot.
