Abstract

ZABALEGUI ANDONEGUI, Ion. Influence of the implant position on the final restoration. RCOE [online]. 2002, vol.7, n.1, pp.47-54. ISSN 1138-123X.

Basis: Treatment with dental implants in the anterior region of the maxilla is a therapeutic challenge with various factors involved. One of these is an adequate position of implant head relative to the restoration. Material and Method: The different consequences on the emergence profile of the restoration and on the peri-implant mucosa as a result of the position of the head of the implant in the three spatial planes will be described through the data obtained in the bibliographic review that try to explain the biological basis that rules these results. Conclusions: The aesthetic result of the final restoration is determined by, among other factors, the adequate position of the implant head in relation to the restoration. Decision making is a consequence of a delicate preoperative study in which the final restoration will guide the implant position on the mesio-distal and bucco-lingual plane; the osseous crest in relation to the adjacent teeth and the distance among implants will be the the key factors in the apico-coronal plane.
