Abstract
CARLOS VILLAFRANCA, Félix de; COBO PLANA, Juan; FERNANDEZ MONDRAGON, Mª Pilar and JIMENEZ, Antonio. Cephalometrics of the upper airway (UA). RCOE [online]. 2002, vol.7, n.4, pp.407-414. ISSN 1138-123X.
Cephalometrics, optical nasopharyngolaryngoscopy, computed tomography and even three-dimensional scanning have been used to evaluate patients with sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (SAHOS). Cephalometrics is a practical technique to evaluate the upper airway (UA). It is used as an auxiliary technique when evaluating the upper airway of patients with SAHOS. Its cost is low and its clinical interpretation is easy. It provides information about skeletal anatomy, position of the hyoid, soft palate and back airway. However, there are some limitations to this technique since it is static and it cannot be carried out during sleep.
