Abstract

LALINDE FERNANDEZ, M.; LAMELA LENCE, M.T.  and  ACITORES SUZ, E.. Eye pain: presenting symptom of orbital cellulitis. Rev Pediatr Aten Primaria [online]. 2012, vol.14, n.56, pp.327-330. ISSN 1139-7632.  https://dx.doi.org/10.4321/S1139-76322012000500008.

Orbital cellulitis is an infection located behind the orbital septum. The origin of this infection is often a complication of sinusitis. The symptoms and signs that accompany orbital cellulitis depend on the extent of intraorbital structures and may produce eye pain, chemosis, proptosis, oftamoplejia or alteration of visual acuity. Clinical suspicion is very important because the prognosis depends on early diagnosis and its treatment. We present two cases in which ocular pain was the symptom of suspected orbital cellulitis.

Keywords : Orbital cellulitis; Eye pain; Acute sinusitis.
