Abstract

The integration in 1977 of the Nursing studies at the University supposed a point of inflexion in the transition of the nurse discipline from a technical to a professional stage. Since then, the different professional tendencies are working to develop its own nursing knowledge; this provides a new definition frame in the nursing responsibility in the health attention of the population. The changing process that took place at the university in the nineties involve a greater protagonism of the student in the education-learning process and the nursing studies began to be in consonance with the European normative, that supports the free circulation and interchange of professors and students in the communitarian framework. But if in these two decades the education of the nurses have suffer of importants changes, the creation of the European Space of Superior Education in this new millenium is the unique opportunity to improve the quality of the superior education in Europe, and an opportunity for a new stage in Nursing. It is desirable that in the next years the reform of the superior education that now is taking place allows to give an answer to the present complexity of health services, which more and more requires competence to handle complex information nurses who are able to use new technologies, to evaluate the situation in the taken care process and help the patients different situations.
