Abstract

CUERVO CARABEL, Tatiana; ORVIZ MARTINEZ, Natalia; ARCE GARCIA, Sergio  and  FERNANDEZ SUAREZ, Iván. Technostress in Communication and Technology Society: literature review from the Web of Science. Arch Prev Riesgos Labor [online]. 2018, vol.21, n.1, pp.18-25.  Epub Sep 21, 2020. ISSN 1578-2549.  https://dx.doi.org/10.12961/aprl.2018.21.01.4.

Aim:

Doing a scoping review to map the state of the art of technostress, one of the emerging risks associated with the growing use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in society.

Methods:

a scoping review on technostress at work is done through the Web of Science (WoS). A search was performed using the words “technostress work”. The search was completed with a literature review of the selected articles.

Results:

A total of 58 articles were identified, of which finally 30 were selected for in-depth review. The manual search in the bibliography allowed us to analyze another 14 articles. Most of articles focus on the analysis of the creators and inhibitors of technostress in workers, as well as the main consequences of the materialization of this risk on worker’s performance. There is a lack of empirical studies that allow organizations to establish strategies to adequately manage the technostress.

Conclusions:

we conclude the need to delve into the technostress through empirical studies that are not only focused on proposing theoretical models for their conceptualization or knowing their consequences in Organizations, but on proposing management strategies that reduce the impact of this new labor reality. Future lines of research are proposed to understand and adequately manage technostress in workers.
