Abstract

The aim of this study is to know the importance of other significatives, parents, coaches and peers, on persistence or dropped out of the sporting practice in young students. The sample was formed by 958 young participants of team sports, ranging in age from 11 to 16 years old, belonged to the Region of Extremadura. We used different instruments to assess parents´ involvement in the sport practice, as well as peer and coaches motivational climate. Results showed a predictive capacity of parents' club involvement and support on persistence in sport, as well as coaches' mastery climate. Finally, results are discussed and show limitations and future prospective.
