Abstract
ROSA, A; GARCIA CANTO, E and CARRILLO, PJ. Health perception, physical activity and physical fitness in school children. CPD [online]. 2018, vol.18, n.3, pp.179-189. Epub July 26, 2021. ISSN 1989-5879.
The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between health, perception of physical activity and physical fitness in schoolchildren. Health perception was assessed using the Health Behavior in School-aged Children questionnaire. Physical activity was estimated using the Comparative Physical Activity Scale. The physical fitness was measured by the ALPHA-Fitness Battery. A convenience sample of 103 Spanish schoolchildren (63 females) aged between 8-12 years was used. The results showed that schoolchildren with good / very good health perception had higher aerobic capacity and lower values in body max index, waist circumference and hip perimeter, schoolchildren with greater physical activity showed better values of speed-agility and aerobic capacity and schoolchildren with good/very good health perception and greater physical activity obtained lower values in body max index, hip perimeter and higher in aerobic capacity. These results suggest the existence of a direct relationship between health perception, physical activity and physical fitness.
