Abstract
VILCHEZ, Jose Luis. Validation in ecuadorian population of the Child's Report of Parental Behavior Inventory (CRPBI). Acción psicol. [online]. 2019, vol.16, n.2, pp.43-56. Epub July 25, 2022. ISSN 2255-1271. https://dx.doi.org/10.5944/ap.16.2.24376.
Parenting styles have been defined under various multidimensional models of diverse complexity. A parsimonious model has been chosen to revalidate a three factor questionnaire in order to measure parental styles in the Republic of Ecuador. Confirmatory factorial analysis show an adequate fit to these three factors model for both maternal and paternal styles. In the Republic of Ecuador, significant differences have been found between the Control and Neglect received by the children. A greater maternal Control and Neglect towards male children and greater paternal Control towards male children have been found. From an individual point of view, there is greater Love, greater Control and lesser Negligence perceived by the children on behalf of the mother. Explanations of these results are based on cultural idiosyncrasies. The main result of this study is the revalidation of a family diagnosis questionnaire in the Republic of Ecuador for research and treatment purposes.
