The main objective is to describe the charitable-sanitary situation in Antequera and the origin of the Antequera hospital during the 16th century and the application in this town of the hospital reduction during the reign of Philip II, with the aim of solving sanitary problems, very common throughout the Spanish territory at the time. Various documentary sources have been used, mainly from the Municipal Historical Archive of Antequera.
