Abstract
SANTOLARIA LOPEZ, Miguel Ángel; SALINAS ARIZ, Maider; SOLER LLORENS, Rosa María and POLO MARQUES, Eduardo. Pneumatocele. Rev Clin Med Fam [online]. 2010, vol.3, n.3, pp.233-234. ISSN 2386-8201.
We present the case of a young woman who developed a parenchymatous condensation on the right hemithorax during a respiratory infection, which was resolved with standard treatment, when a cavitated and well delimited image appeared. During follow-up it spontaneously disappeared after a few weeks. Pneumatocele is a cavity in the pulmonary parenchyma filled with air, which is occaesionally observed after severe pneumonia and generally resolves spontaneously without the need for any other treatment and without any sequelae. There are many infectious agents related to this illness although it has traditionally been associated with the "staphylococcus aureus".
