PAZ GOMEZ, Virgina; MAQUEDA ZAMORA, Gloria; SIERRA SANTOS, Lucía and TESO CHAMORRO, Laura. Henna allergy: tattoos that make their mark. Rev Clin Med Fam [online]. 2021, vol.14, n.3, pp.162-164. Epub Nov 29, 2021. ISSN 2386-8201.
Mixing natural henna with paraphenyldiamine (PPD), a synthetic dye that enhances the colour and duration of tattoos, can produce a rare type IV hypersensitivity reaction.
We report the case study of a woman with an intense skin reaction one month after undergoing a tattoo with black henna. This reaction manifested with raised maculopapules that reproduced the tattoo's pattern.
Keywords : allergy; hypersensitivity; skin.
