Abstract

MORILLAS, Jordi. The Information and Communication Technologies, and the Big Data in the Intensive Care Units. Rev. Bioética y Derecho [online]. 2020, n.48, pp.139-148.  Epub May 11, 2020. ISSN 1886-5887.

The new technologies have made the intensive medical services to be able to obtain and manage large amount of data from different sources. This information is obtained by different devices that make up ICT (information and communication technology). The Big Data contribute to improving knowledge and therefore developing better treatment strategies. With these possibilities, there are a number of challenges that we should consider: how to obtain data, how to change the relationship between healthcare staff and the patient, what level of reliability they have, how to protect them, who is the owner and how they are shared, etc.

Keywords : Big data; critical care; ICT; communication.
