Main objective: To determine the practices and activities recommended that scientific evidence on the initial assessment and treatment of near-drowning and immersion hypothermia to develop a guide for action. Methodology used: a literature reviewwas conducted in major biomedical databases, PubMed, Cochrane, Embase, Database, Direct Sciene, among others. Main results: We describe the recommended practices for the assessment and initial management of near-drowning patient with or without associated immersion hypothermia. Main conclusion: The monitoring of protocols based on scientific evidence now exists to increase the survival rateand minimize the consequences.
