Abstract

This article summarizes how care for women is during climateric, making clear the dominance and the medicalization as a result of the influence of the biomedical model. This paper attempts to contextualize nursing care during the climacteric and opens a space for debate and reflection on the topic, trying to show the applicability of feminist theories for women's care during this (and other) stages of life. This is a theoretical text that aims to expand the focus of nursing care, to abolish the typical reductionism of the biomedical model, to encourage to a critical thinking and a holistic conception of the people we care, ultimately, to construct high quality nursing care.
