LORENZO HERNANDEZ, Maria Piedad and HERNANDEZ CANO, Rosa María. Inapproapiate use of negative pressure therapy in surgical wounds with dehiscence.: effectiveness of the cures in humid atmosphere in surgical wound dehiscence after using PICO® dressing. Ene. We report a case of a male operated on appendectomy after being diagnosed with appendicitis complicated with peritonitis and who presents postoperative complication by surgical wound infection. The aim of the study is to assess the evolution of the wound dressing after application of PICO®. A prospective observational study of the case is performed, monitoring the wound till the correct healing. During his hospital stay he presented wound infection, being necessary to drain it. After the discharge, he drained excessively needing to modify the wound care until complete healing. We conclude that the negative pressure therapy without collector system is not suitable for highly exuding wounds.
