ESTEVEZ SANCHEZ, Alba. Análisis de la influencia de los cambios en las características sociodemográficas en la erradicación de la poliomielitis en Nigeria. Ene. [online]. 2015, vol.9, n.3. ISSN 1988-348X. https://dx.doi.org/10.4321/S1988-348X2015000300008.
In 2013 global immunization coverage against polio virus was 84% in newborns. The number of cases compared to 1988 decreased by 99 % and only 416 cases were reported. The main objective is to establish relationships between changes in the sociodemographic characteristics and the rise of polio in Nigeria. We conducted a deductive analytical study, helping the principles of Cartesian logic. According to the results, the process of vaccination and immunization of the population in Nigeria until 2012 had an upward trend with a declining number of registered cases and an increase in the percentage of vaccinated population. We can conclude that there is an important influential factor for cause and no vaccination, which is the presence of the armed group Boko Haram is preventing conduct proper immunization.
