This study aimed to determine the prevalence of symptoms of depression and anxiety in college students of the degree in nursing in Galicia. The interest to study population since the academic training of this title is demanding in relation to the theoretical, practical and clinical training, which induces high level of stress that prolonged time may involve the genesis of other diseases, in relation to mental health, the genesis of disorders of anxiety and depression are important. This study used questionnaires BDI, EADG and HAD to determine the prevalence of anxiety and depression and the processing of data by means of Microsoft Excel 2013. Questionnaires have been administered in university schools of nursing of A Coruña, Lugo, Ourense and Pontevedra in grades 1, 2 and 3 obtaining a significant for the total study population of sample (N = 955). The data obtained were statistically significant to determining average prevalence of anxiety around 60% and the prevalence of symptoms of depression around 62%. This work takes on great importance since there are numerous authors that relate to anxiety and chronic depression with other mental and organic disorders as well as the negative impact on neurogenesis, neuroplasticity, neurotransmission and neuroendocrine system.
