SANZ-LORENTE, María  and  GUARDIOLA-WANDEN-BERGHE, Rocío. Thematic analysis of scientific production indexed in MEDLINE on occupational exposure in home health care services. Hosp. domic. [online]. 2021, vol.5, n.4, pp.199-208.  Epub Nov 22, 2021. ISSN 2530-5115.  https://dx.doi.org/10.22585/hospdomic.v5i4.147.

Objective:

Analyze and characterize, through thematic analysis, the scientific production indexed in MEDLINE on occupational exposure in home health care services.

Method:

Descriptive cross-sectional study. The data were obtained from the MEDLINE database, through PubMed, questioning the terms under study in the fields of descriptors, title and abstract; Search end date August 20th 2021.

Results:

Evolution of growing scientific production (R2 = 0.23). The number of originals was 51 (15.09%), and the frequency and percentage of citable articles 58 (80.56%). Obsolescence was 14.71 ± 1.13 years with a Price Index of 16.67%. The Major Topic on home care services was observed in 38 (52.78%) articles and on occupational exposure in 54 (75.00%) articles.

Conclusions: It was clear that the descriptors for infection control and the transmission of infectious diseases from the patient to the professional, with needle stick injuries and blood-borne pathogens, showed the highest risk of occupational exposure in home care services.
