Abstract
CERVILLA LOZANO, Juan Manuel and CERVILLA MARTIN, Maite. Blepharoplasty and teartrough treatment with autologous orbitary fat. Cir. plást. iberolatinoam. [online]. 2019, vol.45, n.1, pp.19-25. Epub Feb 27, 2020. ISSN 1989-2055. https://dx.doi.org/10.4321/s0376-78922019000100005.
Background and Objective
The treatment of the palpebral bag next to the teartrough is a very habitual affair in Plastic Aesthetic Surgery. From the 90’s, after Jelqs publishing his intraconjunctival technique, many surgeons began using it, marking a breakthrough in modern blepharoplasty. In the same way, Coleman's publication on orbito-malar lipostructure in 1996 resulted in a better resolution for the teartrough.
Our work consists on the association of both techniques to obtain optimal results in the eyelids bags and teartrough in a single surgical procedure, using the autologous orbital fat.
Methods
We employed Barton's grading system to classificate the different cases and explain our technique and the advantages of orbito-malar fat versus fat fromother anatomical areas. In the same way, we present the different characteristics of orbital fat and the advantages of donor place, as it's the same surgical area of blepharoplasty.
Results
We currently have a total of 72 cases, with better results than with the conventional technique, so we are using this procedure routinely.
Conclusions
In our experience, the use of orbito-malar fat associated to blepharoplasty offers excellent results in teartrough, treatment.
