Abstract

MORAL DE CALATRAVA, Paloma. The teaching of Nursing`s History in Spain. Index Enferm [online]. 2004, vol.13, n.47, pp.39-43. ISSN 1699-5988.

The European process of convergence should lead us to think about the kind of studies and professionals we want for the future. In this context, the situation of humanistic disciplines, like History, is very fragile. This article explores the need to include the History of Nursing in the academic curriculum to obtain not only a basic knowledge about the profession, but also some necessary skills to deal with different information sources, and help to assessing the patient's cultural environment. In this sense we outline some historiografical categories that should allow us building a meaningful History of Nursing.
