Temporomandibular joint dysfunction includes problems that affect the joint and its surrounding muscles and can have a very diverse nature: anatomical, inflammatory or psychological. Fifty per cent of the population suffer some dysfunction at this level. Consequently, the clinical manifestation of these mandibular disorders is very diverse, so it is difficult to establish the diagnosis and subsequent treatment. The latter will include from diet and behavior therapies to pharmacological and surgical interventions.
