Abstract

SOTTO MAYOR, Margarida; SEQUEIRA, Carlos  and  GARCIA, Belén. Nursing consultation to informal caregivers: diagnostic tools and intervention. Gerokomos [online]. 2013, vol.24, n.3, pp.115-119. ISSN 1134-928X.  https://dx.doi.org/10.4321/S1134-928X2013000300004.

The Nursing Consultation is one of the strategies nurses can use to obtain diagnosis and provide guidance to patient/family: learning of techniques, specific care and referral to other professionals. The authors present a study based on data collected from Nursing Consultations. Using a transversal approach on a sample of 50 caregivers and following an "evaluation and intervention protocol with caregivers", they found that the consultation is beneficial for health and promotes reciprocal satisfaction during caregiving, for both caregiver and elderly.

Keywords : Nursing consultation; caregivers; dementia.
