Abstract
FLORES LEGASA, Luis. Use of Mineral Trioxide Aggregate in periapical surgery. RCOE [online]. 2002, vol.7, n.3, pp.291-297. ISSN 1138-123X.
Most of the endodontic failures are due to mistakes in cleaning, shaping and tridimensional obturation of the root canal system, so the final consequence is the egress of antigens into the periradicular tissues. With the periapical surgery, consisting of the exposure of the involved apex, radicular resection and preparation of a class I cavity which will be hermetically sealed, we will correct the previous defects. The function of these retrofilling obturations is to prevent percolations from the root canal system to the periradicular tissues. A new material has been recently put on the market, it is known as MTA or mineral trioxide aggregate and it fulfils most of the properties of an ideal material.
