We report the case of an infant with aplasia cutis congenita diagnosed on his first visit for control of the newborn in primary care. Aplasia cutis congenita is a rare entity (0.5-1/10,000 newborns) which is found in newborns usually as incidental finding. Its most common site is the scalp, at the level of the apex. Although its etiology is unknown it has been associated with various syndromes and malformations, which must be known for a good physical examination, a rational use of diagnostic tests and differential diagnosis.
