Between the 6th and the 8th of October 2021, at the facilities of the Spanish National Defence Studies Centre (CESEDEN), the 1st EU Congress on Military Health Services was held. International Congress designed with the aim of analysing the role of the EU Military Health Services in support of civilian authorities during the pandemic, operational challenges in a state of uncertainty, the establishment of strategic medical stockpiles, as well as European vaccination plans against pandemics, in close coordination with the European Commission.
Eleven delegations from the member states attended, with the presence of seven Surgeon Generals. It was developed in a hybrid format, online and in-person. English was the official language of the Congress. During the days of the congress, three round tables, two keynote conferences and a visit-workshop to the Torrejón Air Base were held.
It was inaugurated by Ms. María Amparo Valcárce García, Undersecretary of Defense.
